Boise State and Virginia Tech's Meaningful Seasons

Jenni Carlson of The Oklahoman makes a terrific point. For either Boise State or Virginia Tech, the meaningfulness of their regular seasons ends this week:

Watch Boise State and Virginia Tech, a pair of national championship contenders playing what promises to be a grand conclusion to college football's opening weekend. Then, when the game is over, go into the losing team's locker room and convince the players that they still have as much to play for this season as they did when the game started.

Convince them the BCS hasn't rendered their regular season meaningless.

For the few BCS supporters that remain, enough with the lazy argument that the BCS somehow protects the sanctity of the college football regular season. Ms. Carlson's observation adds yet one more piece to an already large and still-growing mountain of evidence that says otherwise.
